Gerard Fowke's book was originally published as the Bureau of  American Ethnology Bulletin Number 37 and focuses on the central and southeastern portion of Missouri.  Included are excavation reports of the Ewing, Dawson, Braumhoefer, Kurtz, Smith and Shaw mounds, to name a few.  Also included are photographs of the wonderful copper plates from Malden in Dunklin County, Missouri.

Of particular note:   There are dozens of specific locations of village sites, mounds and other sites that were deemed worthy of future investigation in 1910.
